MG Motor has officially announced that they will launch the facelifted iteration of the ZS SUV.
For those unfamiliar, MG Motor India has classified the combustion engine and EV-based versions - the former is called the Astor, while the latter retains the ‘ZS’ moniker but has an EV next to it. Overseas, this SUV is called the MG ZS, be it a combustion engine or electric.
Once the launch kicks off on August 26, the sales of the MG ZS will first start in Australia, followed by other countries.
Overview
The teaser images show us the heavily reprofiled front and rear ends of the compact SUV. The front fascia comprises a sleeker yet modern set of headlights, accompanied by a newly designed grille with chrome garnishes. This redesign now makes the design language in line with new-age MG cars, such as the MG3 hatchback and the recently facelifted HS SUV sold internationally.
In parallel, the side profile of this SUV is also slightly unveiled but we expect it to have minimal changes, including the subtly altered wheel arches. In addition to that, this vehicle will receive a new set of alloy wheels.
The rear, on the other hand, is also overhauled as can be seen on the tailgate, rear bumper, and tail-lights.
Aside from that, the MG has also confirmed that the ZS SUV would receive a hybrid-based petrol powertrain, and the Australian market will receive that engine type first, and later other markets may get it. However, there are reports that it will also offer a turbocharged petrol engine and an all-electric version.
Furthermore, the 2nd generation MG ZS will also have a redesigned upholstery and cabin, albeit the interior’s images remain to be seen.
Availability
Following the launch in the Australian market, this compact SUV will make its way to other countries, including the Indian shores. It is also worth mentioning that a different-looking version is available in the Indonesian market, therefore, it remains to be seen which iteration makes it to the Indian shores.
In other news, the MG Windsor electric SUV will mark its India debut on September 11, 2024, plus the price list will also be rolled out on the launch day. Additionally, MG Motor India is also gearing up to launch the Gloster facelift, which is reportedly to make its way later this year.
