Qualcomm had one of the most crowded booths at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The eighth edition of the event, which took place from 15 to 18 October, saw multiple showcases and launches from top global telecom and technology brands, and Qualcomm was a key participant. We visited their booth to explore the latest technology, and here’s what we observed.
Snapdragon Flagship Chipset Launching on October 21
Qualcomm is set to unveil its next-generation flagship chipset under the 8 Gen series on October 21. While the chipset is rumoured to be named Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition or Snapdragon Elite, the official name will only be confirmed on the launch day.
Several upcoming smartphones, including the OnePlus 13, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, iQOO 13, and Realme GT 7 Pro, are expected to launch in India with this chipset.
We spoke with Savi Soin, President of Qualcomm India, who expressed excitement about the chipset’s launch and stated that more details will be shared on the day of the event.
Highlights from the Qualcomm Booth at IMC 2024
Here’s a look at the key innovations Qualcomm showcased at IMC 2024:
- Qualcomm FaceMe (QCS6490): Users will be able to make payments by simply showing their face.
- Snapdragon FlexRide: A chip that powers the entire vehicle, integrating both safety and infotainment systems.
- Snapdragon 2-Wheeler Digital Chassis: Expected to be used in two-wheelers starting in 2025, this platform, powered by the QWM 2290 chip, will support LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS connectivity. It will also include safety features like speed limit monitoring and SOS.
- Snapdragon X Elite-Powered Laptops: Qualcomm displayed several laptops powered by the X Elite processor, which the brand claims offer better battery life, AI features, and performance compared to traditional Intel or Apple-based silicon laptops.
Snapdragon 4s Gen 2-Powered Smartphone from Xiaomi Announced
Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi A4 5G in collaboration with Qualcomm on the first day of IMC 2024, making it the first smartphone in India to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset. This budget 5G chipset is designed to make 5G more accessible to a wider audience in India.

Speaking with Hardwire, Qualcomm India President Savi Soin confirmed that the phone will officially launch later this year and will be priced under Rs 10,000 in the country.
