Volkswagen Golf GTi
Volkswagen India will be opening orders for the eagerly awaited Golf GTi on May 5, and the prices should be announced later in the month. With its India premiere, the Golf GTi will be launched as a completely imported version under the GTi nameplate, the second such vehicle to be introduced by Volkswagen in India after the 3-door Polo GTI. With its CBU (completely built-up) designation, the Golf GTi can be anticipated to have a premium price tag, likely in excess of ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Just 250 units will be assigned to the first lot, and bookings will solely be made via Volkswagen India's website for a limited time. Deliveries will commence in June through select dealerships throughout the country.

VW Golf GTi Engine Specs
Under the hood, the Golf GTi will be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 265hp and 370Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It also features an electronically controlled front-axle differential lock for enhanced handling. Volkswagen claims the hatchback can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 5.9 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 250kph. These numbers put it ahead of its nearest rival, the Mini Cooper S, which provides 204hp from an engine of a similar size and a two-door configuration, thus making the Golf GTi a more pragmatic performance car.
VW Golf GTi Design
Design-wise, the Golf GTi retains Volkswagen's classic styling features with the addition of sporty features like 18-inch alloy wheels, twin exhaust tips, GTi badges, and a five-piece LED lighting feature that is incorporated into the front bumper. The daytime running LED headlights stretch out from the headlamps to the grille, further enhancing its aggressive appearance. The hatchback will have four colours: Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Premium, Moonstone Grey Black, and Kings Red Premium.

The interior of the Golf GTi will also be similar to that of the Tiguan R Line, with a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Some other GTi-specific touches are a GTi-badged steering wheel, sport seats, and the legendary tartan seat upholstery familiar from international versions.
With its blend of performance, technology, and usability, the Golf GTi is trying to find its place in India's premium performance hatchback space.
