Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that the stunning visuals showcased in Grand Theft Auto VI's second trailer were "entirely in-game," captured directly from a PlayStation 5. This clarification came after some fans speculated the trailer must have been rendered on a more powerful, unreleased PlayStation 5 Pro, given the extraordinary level of detail on display.

The second trailer, released earlier this week, gave fans a deeper look at the game’s setting—Vice City, a fictional version of Miami—as well as the game's characters and environments. Compared to the first teaser from 2023, this trailer included more expansive scenes, character interactions, and environmental diversity. It showcased equal parts gameplay and cinematic cutscenes, all captured on current PS5 hardware, as Rockstar clarified through a social media statement.

The confirmation follows a wave of reactions across the internet. Fans were awed by the realism and fidelity of the visuals, with some even humorously obsessing over character details like Jason’s muscular torso. Others questioned the technical feasibility of achieving such visuals on the standard PS5. However, Rockstar’s announcement put those doubts to rest by confirming it was standard PS5 footage, not PC or any advanced dev hardware.

Despite the excitement, there’s still disappointment regarding the game’s delayed release. Originally expected to launch in Fall 2025, Rockstar recently pushed the release date to May 26, 2026, citing a need for more development time to meet the high expectations of fans. Publisher Take-Two Interactive echoed this by emphasising quality as a top priority.

This delay has also affected the broader industry. Many developers and publishers had been hesitant to schedule their own game releases too close to GTA 6’s launch, fearing the franchise's market dominance. With a new, later date now in place, other companies are expected to fill the 2025 calendar with major releases, helping to rebalance the industry’s release landscape.
