Imagine you’re at a party and you ask the 'iPhone friend' to take your portrait photo. It turns out amazing but you have a OnePlus phone on you. Had it been an all-iPhone affair, the easiest solution would have been AirDrop. You can share over WhatsApp but the photo quality suffers. What do you do?
If you have the latest OxygenOS 15 update installed on your eligible OnePlus smartphone, there's a saving grace – the Share with iPhone feature.
This is still a workaround but the intention of preserving photo and video quality remains unaffected.
OnePlus recently announced its Android 15-based custom interface called OxygenOS 15 and it brings a standout tool to bridge the communication gap between an iPhone and a OnePlus device. In OnePlus' words, it simplifies file sharing between iPhones and OnePlus devices. That's one solid reason to get the latest OxygenOS update as quickly as possible.
However, there are several other exciting reasons to download the latest update and that's what we are going to find out in this article. We will also explore the rollout timeline for all the eligible OnePlus devices.
'Share With iPhone' on OnePlus: How it works
Similar to Apple's AirDrop or Android's Quick Share, the 'Share with iPhone' feature streamlines file sharing between iPhones and OnePlus devices. The functionality is built directly into the latest OxygenOS while iPhone users will need to install the ‘O Plus Connect’ app from the App Store.
When enabled, the 'Share with iPhone' option will appear in your device’s Share menu and stay active for 10 minutes, searching for nearby iPhones with the O Plus Connect app installed. OnePlus claims that file transfers are sent without compression for optimal quality.
The feature will debut on OnePlus devices but sister brands Oppo and Realme will also offer the same perk with their iteration of Android 15 skins.
That said, the solution isn't as effortless as AirDrop. The process of pairing the two devices takes a few moments and some users have reported glitches that often lead to connection failures.
