India is the biggest democratic country with over 140.76 crore (2021) people. The huge population makes conducting big events very challenging. Talking about big events, Loksabha elections 2024 are to be held in seven phases and start on April 19th; the results will be declared on June 4th.

Democracy offers equal opportunity to everyone, but in some cases, people can’t walk to the election booths. To help these people, the government is starting the “Vote from Home” program.

India currently has 82 lakh senior citizens aged above 85 years, 2,18,442 voters who have crossed 100, and 88.4 lakh physically disabled voters. The numbers are so big that the government decided to provide some special facilities. As per Rule 27A of the Conduct of Election Rules, amended in 2020, senior citizens have the freedom to use ballet papers to senior citizens.

This step was never possible without digitalization. The voting process is still easy for those who can walk, irrespective of age, but it is not easy for people with disabilities. New technologies and security process gives the freedom to people choose the proper techniques for specified tasks.

The Election Commission of India is working towards easing the registration process for new voters and voter identification for people with disabilities by offering them extra services. They simply need to use the “Saksham App” and share all the important information with the Election Commission. New voters can register themselves on the app, which is available on Android and iOS.

In the new era of AI and software, it's easy to run things smoothly. The Saksham Apps have voice assistance and text-to-speech features; users can also change the size of fonts and convert images to high-contrast colors.

It’s easily possible to get information on polling stations, such as location and contact details of offers. In case of an emergency, voters can make complaints on this app.
