Ola recently held its Sankalp 2024 event on Independence Day where it announced a slew of services and innovations. Bhavish Agarwal, Founder of Ola, told Hardwire that the company is betting high on AI and future technologies. One of the major announcements of the day was the rebranding of Ola Cab to Ola Consumer. The company will include its retail and commerce-related projects for Indian consumers under this category. In this article, we share a list of services that Ola will provide under its Consumer category.
ONDC
Ola claims that the ONDC moment will be equally revolutionary to the UPI for India. For those who don't know, ONDC stands for Open Network for Digital Commerce which makes an ecosystem to bring down the cost of commerce. Ola Food and Grocery on ONDC recorded 40,000 orders per day only in Bengaluru in a pilot concluded in 2024. Ola is planning to add more categories to ONDC soon. The company will offer one year of free Krutrim Cloud for all ONDC suppliers. This scheme will include startups and SMEs under a fair usage policy. Additionally, D2C brands will also get the same benefits from accessing Krutrim Cloud.
AI Shopping Co-Pilot
The AI Shopping Co-Pilot will change the overall shopping experience for online buyers, according to Ola. This conversational AI-powered tool will be focused on personalisation and interactive shopping. It will connect users with social media and other apps, creating a cohesive and integrated shopping experience across all platforms.
Electric Logistics
Ola Consumer is all set to reduce logistics costs. It will serve as the future of work, a multi-work platform, and a choice of jobs for gig workers, leading to reduced costs. With all these things, it will also increase 2.5 lakh additional jobs by March 2025 with this platform.
Credit on Demand
The bank takes a long time to provide credits, so as a solution to this problem, Ola Consumer has announced several initiatives aimed at providing accessible and affordable credit solutions for all. It comes in two categories:
- OIa Credit: This feature will ensure personal loans at a single click. Ola has made credit accessible in partnership with Tata Capital and Incred. The process will be 100% digital, and the money will be transferred to the bank accounts within minutes.
- Ola Pay: It is Ola’s own UPI on the Ola App to pay for rides, food, and groceries.
Automated Warehousing
Ola is planning to get included in the warehousing space that supercharges the commerce supply chain. The company has already partnered with several FMCG and D2C brands, including ITC, Marico, and Bombay Shaving Company, for automated and efficient warehousing operations to reduce wastage and high-end storage costs.
Ola is planning to deploy 1 lakh 2W EVs throughout the next two years. Ola Share will also be a new feature for affordable and readily available cab rides during rush hours and high-demand routes. Ola Consumers is promising a less than twenty-minute trip deviation, and it will be limited to a maximum of two people sharing to deliver an uncompromised customer experience.
Ola Coin
The company has also announced an Ola Loyalty program to reward end-users for every transaction they make on the Ola platform across mobility, e-commerce, and logistics services. Ola will introduce the program in Bengaluru and roll it out across India.
