Shortcuts App: Access to Secret Features on Apple Devices

Apple’s iOS is famous for its direct-to-use UI experience, but you can still add some useful shortcuts to make your iPhone more user-friendly and secure. iOS doesn't have dedicated apps to send messages in emergency situations, download videos or other automation features. But thanks to the Apple Shortcuts app, you can enable those features. 

I have found the best shortcuts for iOS users to make their devices better, more secure, and more fun. Here is the list of methods:

Share location using the Siri Shortcut:

Suppose you feel that someone is chasing you at night and you can’t call anyone at the place, but you own an iPhone. Take another scenario. Suppose you are returning from the office and your family members are worried about you. At the same time, you are driving/riding hurridly and you cannot use your phone. In this situation, you can use Siri to send a WhatsApp message with an estimated time of arrival (derived from Google Maps) to your favourite contacts.

Steps to follow: 

1. Go to the shortcut app

2. Select the ‘+’ icon to create a new shortcut.

(If you are using it for the first time, it will ask for some permission.)

1. Tap Action, search Street, and select address (type your home or office address).

Now you have to add the next command. For this, you have to search Travel and Get Arrival Time. (Permit it if you are using it for the first time.)

In the next step, you have to select Mode, Start, and End.

Mode: select driving or walking. Transit according to your needs

Start: select the current location.

End: select the street address.

Send details on WhatsApp:

In this step, you have to add a shortcut for WhatsApp messages. For this, search WhatsApp and select Send Message via WhatsApp. Now, add your partner's or family member’s name as the recipient.

Get Directions:

Now in the second final step, you have to add directions for this search in the shortcut search and tap Open Direction. 

Choose mode: walking, driving, or transit. 

From: Current Location

To: Street Address
In the last step, you can name your shortcut. To do this, simply tap the downward arrow button at the top of the screen. You can name the shortcut. Get me home, and tap Done.

Now, you don’t need to work hard for other shortcuts.
