Meta launched the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses last year at $299. These have been feature-loaded since inception but Meta has now upgraded them with new designs, and the support of their own multimodal AI, making them smarter. These glasses have been developed in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica.

Meta Ray-Ban Glasses: Features and Work Principal

The glasses can now use its 12MP camera’s input data to analyse the user’s surroundings and give answers with the help of Meta AI. If you are familiar with the Google lens then this too is a similar thing but you don’t have to pull out your phone from the pocket, your glasses will do everything seamlessly. The user will just have to use the command “Hey Meta” and then ask about whatever is on their mind or in front of them. The glasses take input via the camera or through voice commands and answer it via the built-in speakers. These glasses can be purchased in hundreds of different custom frame and lens combinations on the Ray-Ban Remix platform.

The updated glasses can now be used for video calls on Messenger and WhatsApp and not only this, users can access Apple music on their glasses. Other than this, the glasses can be used to click a picture of any text like a restaurant's menu in China or a road sign in Russia and translate it, reducing the need to use your phone everywhere.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta was seen chatting with a colleague (who was using the Meta Glasses for the video call) in one of his recent Instagram posts (link below).

This Meta AI functionality is limited only to the US and Canadian customers (in beta) as of now, however, the glasses are available to purchase in 15 countries, including the US, Canada, Australia, and throughout Europe. The video calling feature is also rolling out to Meta Glass users in phases.
