Reliance is diversifying its portfolio and recently it launched a product, the JioTag. It directly rivals the Apple AirTag. As you might expect, the Apple AirTag is pricier than the JioTag. The former is priced at a maximum retail price (MRP) of Rs 3490, while the latter has a price of Rs 2999. However, the JioTag can easily be purchased at a discounted price via the Reliance Digital shopping website.

For those unaware, these two products are compact and circular in shape, and they can be used to track your belongings, such as wallets, handbags, backpacks, keychains, and so on. They can also be placed on the pet’s leash.

So, without wasting time, let’s start comparing these two offerings, in terms of specifications and pricing.

JioTag

Both devices support Bluetooth, but they differ in range and compatibility.

As for the JioTag, this homegrown tracking device weighs only 9.5g and is available in multiple colours.

In terms of range, the tag has a tracking range of 20 metres and 50 metres indoors and outdoors, respectively.

It also has a double-tap feature; it rings the user’s phone when triggered, despite the phone being in silent mode. Moreover, the JioTag will also notify if the user forgets to take the tagged belonging(s).

And, inside the JioTag’s box, the company has provided a spare battery (which is rechargeable) and a lanyard string.

The latter allows you to attach the string to your belongings, while the former allows you to replace the battery, as and when required.

The JioTag is compatible with Android, iOS, and other operating systems.

Apple AirTag

The Apple AirTag, on the other hand, has more or less the same functions, but it’s slightly different from its counterpart.

The AirTag, however, is superior when it comes to tracking abilities. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy and the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology. The latter is found in newer iPhones. In contrast, JioTag only relies on Bluetooth and GPS for tracking.

However, unlike JioTag, the Apple AirTag supports a maximum connectivity range of 10 metres (33 feet).

The battery offered on the AirTag is a CR2032 coin cell.

This tracking device from Apple only supports iOS and not Android or any other software.

Closing Words

Both tracking devices are more or less the same, as far as their features are concerned.

The Apple AirTag is for those who have an Apple ecosystem, while the JioTag boasts to support Android, iOS, and other software.

Additionally, the JioTag is more affordable than the Apple AirTag.

So for versatility, you might have already figured out the device to pick.
