Once upon a time, Nokia used to make legendary phones, but things changed unfavourably for the company after the Lumia launch. In 2014, HMD (Human Mobile Devices) Global acquired it from Microsoft and launched Android phones. At that time, they had launched some unique phones like the Nokia 9 PureView, and Nokia 8 Simco, to name a few. But most of their phones failed terribly because of their high price and low money-feature ratio.

What went wrong with HMD?

The good news is that HMD Global is all set to launch new smartphones in India, but the phone(s) will come with HMD branding instead of Nokia badging.

Recently, HMD Global has started a contest on X (formerly Twitter) so that people can suggest some decent names for their upcoming phone series.

If you analyze the track record of past HMD smartphones, they are far from competitors. For example, the Nokia G42 comes with a Snapdragon 480 for Rs 10,000, and in this price range, users can get a Snapdragon 695 in Motorola phones with stock Android.

HMD Arrow will be the brand’s first phone; the company has advertised it through an Indian cricket club, ‘Rajasthan Royals’.

Some tech geeks speculated that it is a rebranded version of the already launched HMD Pulse but it's a completely new model, which will come with a fresh design, 5G support and a completely new chipset.

HMD Pulse does not support 5G and it used to come with Unisoc T606 SOC but the newer version has 5G support and is equipped with an improved camera.

No doubt that Nokia used to rule the market but now the brand is not launching decent products, hence their ranking is below Infinix, Realme, Xiaomi, etc.
