GTA 6: Rockstar Reveals Character Details and Delays Launch to May 2026

Rockstar Games officially pushed the much-awaited launch of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) from Fall 2025 to May 2026. As compensation for the postponement, the studio released a second trailer and took the initiative to launch a special site revealing in-depth information regarding the game's characters and storyline. Being one of the most anticipated video games ever, GTA 6 will bring back the players to the Vice City universe and have a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style storyline based on two main characters: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

Who are the characters

Jason Duval is painted as a man who yearns for a quiet existence but is forever drawn into turmoil. Grown up on the fringes of society surrounded by con artists and small-time thugs, Jason attempted to leave his rough childhood behind by enlisting in the Army. When he returned home, he got caught up with the local speed dealers operating in the Leonida Keys—a setting based on the real Florida Keys. He's street-smart, yet in conflict, and his romance with Lucia may prove to be his salvation or ruin.

Lucia Caminos is welcomed out of prison, with Jason in waiting to collect her. Her history is one of a rough childhood where she was instructed in combat by her father and was imprisoned for protecting her family. Lucia, from Liberty City, intends to re-write her past and views her working relationship with Jason as a means of doing so. The narrative suggests increasing criminal conspiracy, which compels both characters to depend on each other in order to survive.

There are other characters as well

Aside from the two main characters, Rockstar unveiled a few supporting characters that will influence the game's narrative:

Cal Hampton is a homebody, paranoid buddy of Jason who likes tuning into Coast Guard radio chatter from the comfort of his home. Although appearing comfortable with a humble existence, he is a committed friend.

Boobie Ike is an ex-street hustler turned businessman who owns a strip club, real estate business, and recording studio. His main interest is in helping Dre'Quan pursue a music career as a rapper.

Dre'Quan Priest moved from gigs at Boobie's club to being a recording artist for Real Dimez. His goal is to dominate the Vice City music scene.

Real Dimez and Bae Luxe, high school friends, embody today's hustle. Through rap music and social media intelligence, they've constructed a mini-empire by playing on their illegal pasts.

Raul Bautista is a deadly and charismatic bank robber always looking for high-risk, high-reward jobs. His management style puts his team on the edge.

Brian Heder is a traditional smuggler who operates narcotics through his boat yard. Jason lives rent-free at one of Brian's properties in return for assistance with small-time criminal jobs. Brian's third wife, Lori, is also part of this arrangement.

The new character lineup creates a landscape of an expansive and networked Vice City crime world. GTA 6 envisions a gritty, character-based crime drama with intense action, set to merge crime, music, and personal ambition. Even as the delay has caused anxiety, the new revelations have sparked even more excitement for the next in Rockstar's hit franchise.
