Xiaomi 15 Ultra Camera Upgrades Leaked: 200MP Telephoto Lens, Sony LYT-900 Sensor, and More

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the 15 series in China in October which will include the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro. Both products will be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Apart from these two devices, Xiaomi is also expected to launch 15 Ultra early next year, which is focused on its cameras. The camera sensors and features of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra have leaked via a Smartprix report.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra Processor 

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be powered by a 3nm-based Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC chipset that Qualcomm will unevil on October 21. Xiaomi may also introduce an imaging chip combined with image signal processing (ISP) to enhance image quality with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

According to the Smartprix report, Xiaomi is working closely with Sony to develop Sony LYT-900 sensor. With the new sensor, Xiaomi could offer better low-light photography. 

The company is also upgrading its camera app with a new dedicated toggle for 10X space zoom. Currently, the app offers 0.5X, 1X, 2X, 3.2X, and 5X options. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is anticipated to feature an enhanced cinematic mode. While the Xiaomi 14 Ultra supported this mode in 1080p, the 15 Ultra is expected to offer 4K video recording with cinematic mode. The 15 Ultra may also replace the Xiaomi 14 Ultra's 32MP selfie camera with a 50MP selfie camera. 

The biggest highlight of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be a new 200MP telephoto lens. Something that Vivo has already done with the X100 Pro and X100 Ultra. Thanks to Xiaomi-LEICA partnership, all these lenses will be tuned with LEICA Summilux technology. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra may cost same as 14 Ultra to compete with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Rest, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to come with a 2K quad-curved display, a larger battery, and sport a ceramic and faux leather finish on the rear.
