MediaTek has launched its flagship chipset, Dimensity 9400 in China. The latest and greatest from MediaTek aims to capture market share from Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite, that will be launching on October 21. It is optimised to support Google’s Gemini Nano with multimodal and generative AI features. MediaTek claims that the Dimensity 9400 can achieve an AnTuTu score of 3,006,345 under normal temperatures.
Let's take a look at the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset specifications and list of smartphones launching with it.
MediaTek Dimensity 9400 AI features
The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 incorporates the latest 8th generation NPU, offering enhanced optimisation for text, image, and speech processing. MediaTek has partnered with Google to improve the generative AI experience within the Android ecosystem, marking a significant step forward in advancing complex AI models by enabling multimodal capabilities, such as providing detailed descriptions of captured images.
Recently, Google has transformed the Android user experience by introducing notable features. The implementation of Gemini Nano shows that MediaTek is committed to expanding its generative AI ecosystem and advancing edge AI capabilities on Dimensity processors. Currently, Google offers two types of AI features for Android phones and tablets. The first is server-based, requiring an internet connection for features like the Gemini virtual assistant, Gemini messages, and the "Ask Photos" function in the Google Photos app. The second type consists of features that are either fully or partially installed on Android devices, such as transcription, paragraph summarisation, and text summarisation.
MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Benchmark Score
MediaTek, the Taiwanese multinational semiconductor contract manufacturing and design company, uses TSMC’s second-generation 3nm fabrication and has a revamped core architecture for its Dimensity 9400 SoC. During the launch event, MediaTek revealed the benchmark score of the chipset.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset achieved a score of 3,006,345 points on AnTuTu v10.
