HMD Crest, Crest Max Launched In India With 50MP Selfie Camera

Human Mobile Devices (HMD) Global, a Finnish smartphone manufacturer, has launched its first two smartphones in India. HMD is the maker of Nokia-branded smartphones for those who don't know. However, the brand is now moving away from Nokia's identity and establishing its own in the country. The HMD Crest and Crest Max will be made in India and exported to other countries globally. Both phones have launched for under Rs 15,000 in India. 

HMD Crest, Crest Max Specifications: 

Both HMD Crest and Crest Max boast a 6.67-inch FHD OLED display and 20:9 aspect ratio. There is no mention of a high refresh rate. These phones feature a 5,000mAh battery and support 33W fast charging. These devices run on Android 14 OS and will receive two years of security updates. 

The HMD Crest Series devices are powered by a Unisoc T760 chipset that is claimed to achieve over 5.1 lac score on AnTuTu. HMD has made these devices repair-friendly, calling it Repairability 1.0. This makes replacing the display, charging port, and battery hassle-free.

The highlight of both devices is their 50MP selfie camera which features multiple Hands Free Selfies modes including pose selection, beautify, tone control, slow motion selfie, and AI Super Portrait mode.

The HMD Crest features a 50MP rear camera with a 2MP depth sensor on the back whereas the Crest Max features a 64MP Sony Sensor, a 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP depth sensor. 

When asked if HMD plans to introduce AI features on the Crest and Crest Max, Alain Lejeune, Chief Operating Officer of HMD Global, told Hardwire that the company does not consider AI relevant at this time.

HMD Crest, Crest Max Price in India

The HMD Crest and Crest Max will be available to purchase during the Amazon Freedom Sale that is expected to start around Independence Day i.e. August 15. Below are the pricing details of the devices.
