Apple iPhone 17 'Air': All You Need to Know

We expect Apple to introduce a new series of iPhones in 2025. Leaks of the iPhone 17 came out before the launch of the iPhone 16, which is likely to debut in September. According to some resources, Apple may launch the iPhone 17 ‘Air’ instead of the iPhone 17 'Slim’ or 'Plus'. 

We expect the phone to carry Apple Intelligence features. There are rumours buzzing around that the new iPhone 17 may adopt the 'Air' moniker and Apple analyst Mark Gurman also believes that it will be referred to as the 'iPhone Air'.

According to reports, Apple plans to launch this Air version along with the standard, Pro, and Pro Max versions, potentially replacing the 'Plus' variants with a new form factor.

iPhone 17 ‘Air': Details We Have So Far

Apple iPhone 17 ‘Air’ might come with a 6.5-inch display variant instead of the 6.7-inch display variant of the Plus model. This model will feature a completely new design and form factor. Due to its slimmer, offerings, and speculated market positioning factors, we expect the Air version to sit between the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro version.

Since the iPhone 12 Mini launch, Apple has been trying to penetrate the compact smartphone market, but the Mini didn't work well for the company. Later, the company introduced the Plus series and axed the Mini series. The new Air series will target those audiences who want to purchase compact and lightweight smartphones. 

Recently, Apple has injected AI into the iOS 18 software, therefore, we can expect some incremental changes in the Apple lineup in 2025. Rumours also suggest that Apple will continue to release SE series phones with Apple intelligence - but on the launch day of iPhone 16, which is likely to arrive in September 2025, we can expect more new announcements.
