It looks like Apple is getting ready to unveil its next big lineup of smartphones, and the launch is just around the corner. If industry sources are to be believed, the next-gen iPhone 17 series will be announced in early September 2025. The lineup is expected to include four models — the iPhone 17, the super-slim iPhone 17 Air, the powerful iPhone 17 Pro, and the top-end iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Here’s a detailed look at when you can expect the phones to launch and what features they might bring to the table.
When Will the iPhone 17 Series Launch?
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is likely to hold its big launch event during the week of September 8, 2025. Since Apple usually prefers Tuesdays for announcements, the most likely dates are September 9 or 10. The company typically avoids scheduling events on September 11, so that day is less likely.
While nothing is officially confirmed yet, this timeline fits with Apple’s pattern from previous years.
What's New in the iPhone 17 Series?
The upcoming iPhone 17 series is expected to bring several upgrades under the hood. The regular iPhone 17 and the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air are rumored to come with the new A19 chip, while the higher-end iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will likely run on the more powerful A19 Pro chipsets. Both chipsets are expected to be built using TSMC’s third-gen 3nm manufacturing process, which means better power efficiency and faster performance.
In terms of memory, the base models could come with 8GB of RAM, and the Pro variants might jump to 12GB. That should help with multitasking and improve how many apps can stay open in the background without slowing things down.
Display Sizes Are Getting Bigger
Another noticeable change might be the screen sizes across the iPhone 17 series. Here’s what we expect:
iPhone 17: 6.3-inch display (slightly bigger than the iPhone 16)
iPhone 17 Air: 6.7-inch display
iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3-inch display
iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.9-inch display
If these reports are accurate, users can expect a more immersive viewing experience—especially on the larger iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Camera Features: Different for Each Model
Cameras are once again going to be a point of difference across the models. The standard iPhone 17 is expected to include a triple camera setup—featuring a 48MP wide lens, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 24MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
On the other hand, the thinner iPhone 17 Air might only have a single 48MP rear camera and a 24MP front camera. The slimmer design means less space for multiple lenses, but it should still offer solid image quality for everyday users.
While details for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max camera systems are still under wraps, we can safely expect Apple to include more advanced features and possibly new sensors for those who prioritize photography and video.
All signs point to Apple unveiling the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max in the second week of September 2025. From new processors and upgraded RAM to slightly larger displays and model-specific camera setups, the iPhone 17 series is shaping up to be an exciting refresh.
Whether you’re looking for performance, portability, or pro-level features, this year’s iPhones might just have something for everyone.
