Smartphone gaming has come a long way and the Poco X series has consistently pushed boundaries in the mid-range segment. The Poco X7 Pro, recently launched with strong on-paper specifications, raised the expectations sky-high. The device has the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 Ultra chip and a massive 6,550mAh battery. With such performance-focused specifications, this phone promises to be a powerhouse for gamers. But does it truly deliver?
We put it through an intense gaming session, testing its capabilities across some of the most demanding mobile games. From fast-paced battle royales to graphically intensive RPGs, we pushed the Poco X7 Pro to its limits. Here’s how it performed.
Benchmark Data
Before diving into real-world gaming tests, we ran a few synthetic benchmarks to gauge the raw performance of the Poco X7 Pro. On AnTuTu, the device scored an impressive 1,482,049, placing it among the top-performing smartphones in its category. This is lower than what Poco claims officially but still dominates most of the phones in its price segment.
Geekbench results were equally solid, with a single-core score of 1,574 and a multi-core score of 6,203. These numbers are enough to prove that the Dimensity 8400 Ultra is capable of handling demanding tasks with ease, let’s move to a real-world gaming test.

'BGMI' performance on Poco X7 Pro
Let’s talk about Indian esports gamers' first choice -- ‘BGMI - Battlegrounds Mobile India’. The Poco X7 Pro supports Smooth + Extreme (60 fps) and Ultra HDR + Ultra (40 fps) graphics, but unfortunately, 90 fps mode is absent. I was looking forward to it. I played BGMI on Smooth + Extreme settings where the Poco X7 Pro maintained an average frame rate of 59 fps, delivering a seamless experience even in hot-drop locations and intense firefights.
When I switched to Ultra HDR + Ultra settings, the frame rate stabilised at around 38 fps, ensuring smooth gameplay without any significant lag or frame drops. Despite the lack of a 90 fps option, the Poco X7 Pro offers a highly stable and enjoyable BGMI experience.
'COD Mobile' performance on Poco X7 Pro
In COD Mobile, the Poco X7 Pro supports both Low + Ultra (120 fps) and Max + Very High (60 fps) settings. Initially, the device managed to hit 120 fps but within minutes, the frame rate dropped to 90 fps and eventually settled at 60 fps. This issue persisted across multiple attempts, suggesting either a game optimisation or a device limitation.
When tested on Max + Very High settings, the phone consistently delivered 60 fps gameplay. However, during intense combat situations, the fps briefly dropped to 40 fps before quickly recovering to around 58 fps. Despite the inconsistencies at 120 fps, the overall gaming experience remained fluid and lag-free.
'Genshin Impact' performance on Poco X7 Pro
Running Genshin Impact on maximum settings, the Poco X7 Pro averaged between 28-31 fps throughout the session. Although 60 fps gaming wasn’t achievable, the device maintained a stable 30 fps even in combat situations. The absence of stuttering and input lag ensured that the game remained playable, making it a viable option for those who enjoy open-world RPGs.

Verdict: A gaming beast under INR 30,000
Besides the above-mentioned games, I also played a few simulation games that ran smoothly throughout the gameplay.
The Poco X7 Pro builds on the legacy of its predecessor and delivers impressive gaming performance. With stable 60 fps in BGMI and COD Mobile and a decent 30 fps in Genshin Impact, it holds its own against competitors in this price range. The real standout feature is its thermal management. Even after two hours of continuous gaming at max settings, the device showed no signs of throttling or major overheating.
For under INR 30,000, the Poco X7 Pro is one of the best gaming smartphones available right now—just don’t expect true 120 fps gaming in COD Mobile.
