OxygenOS 16, OnePlus’s Android 16-based software, is currently in closed beta testing for a limited set of devices. While the company has yet to announce an official OxygenOS 16 release date, fresh leaks suggest that the OxygenOS 16 Closed Beta Testing (CBT) programme could soon open up for OnePlus Nord 4 users. This comes shortly after OnePlus began the OxygenOS 16 CBT programme for the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s.
OnePlus Nord 4 Likely to Get Beta Access Soon
Tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) shared on X that OnePlus may soon roll out the OxygenOS 16 Beta programme for the OnePlus Nord 4. He posted a screenshot showing a new Closed Beta option appearing in the phone’s update section after the August 2025 security patch. This marks the first sign of the Nord 4 entering the beta cycle, as the section previously showed no beta-related features.
Current Status of OxygenOS 16 Testing
Right now, OnePlus flagship smartphones are running Android 15. The Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 CBT programme is currently limited to the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s, with just 300 testers allowed. Applicants need to be active members of the OnePlus Community, where they can submit feedback to help refine the software before it is released more widely.
Since the CBT version is still under development, it comes with expected bugs and stability concerns. While there’s no confirmed OxygenOS 16 release date, past rollout trends suggest that an Open Beta for Nord devices may follow once the OxygenOS 15 Closed Beta testing concludes.
Expected Rollout and Features
If OnePlus follows its usual schedule, the OxygenOS 16 Open Beta could arrive in October, with the stable version expected sometime in November. The update will likely reach the latest flagship phones first before rolling out to more devices.
With OxygenOS 16, users can expect redesigned widgets, improved customisation tools, smoother navigation, and the addition of new AI tools designed to enhance the overall experience.
