To push its luxury portfolio for Indian customers, Mercedes-Benz has launched a new edition in the GLS lineup called GLS Celebration Edition. The decision to introduce the model has been taken after witnessing the massive success of SUVs in the country. The latest offering has been released at the company’s headquarters in Pune’s Chakan, and confirmed that it will be produced locally.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is often considered the king of luxury SUVs, and a big part of the credit goes to its powerful 4.0-litre V8 engine. The motor produces a maximum power output of 550 bhp and 770 Nm of peak torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. According to the company, this apartment-size SUV can sprint from 0–100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph.
