In a move to expand how users consume short-format content, Meta has launched a separate Instagram application for Fire TV. The app has been released specifically for Reels only, allowing users to consume the short-form videos on their television with ease.

How to Download Instagram Fire TV app?

The newly launched application only supports Reels form content. It means users will not be able to post content, send messages, or browse other sections of Instagram on Fire TV. Those interested in downloading the app can do so via the Amazon App Store.

The Instagram application on Fire TV can be operated using existing Instagram account details. It can also be accessed by creating a new account directly on the platform. Once installed, users will be asked to sign in with their Instagram credentials or pair their TV with their smartphone via a QR code.

After logging in, the app displays a vertical Reels feed optimised for television screens, making it convenient to sit back and browse trending content. According to official details, the Fire TV Instagram app is capable of holding up to five different Instagram accounts. However, one account can be used at a time.

Meanwhile, the decision has been taken after witnessing the growing popularity of Reels. Short-form video content has now become a major source of living-room entertainment. Amid this trend, Instagram is not the only platform to have experimented with applications for larger screens. Earlier, TikTok introduced a similar experience by launching its app on Fire TV in 2020, followed by expansion to other smart TV platforms.
