California-based motorcycle manufacturer Zero was spotted testing the FXE electric motorcycle in an undisguised avatar on Indian soil.
Zero Motorcycles has a partnership with Indian two-wheeler giant, Hero MotoCorp, so this test mule indicates that Zero may enter the Indian two-wheeler market soon.
Zero FXE Electric Motorcycle: A Glimpse
Hero and Zero formed a partnership in the first half of 2023 and it was reported that both these brands will co-develop a new platform which will give birth to four new electric motorcycles for the Indian market.
However, the Zero FXE is based on the Cypher 2 platform, which has been designed for the US market and is not very appropriate for Indian riders and riding conditions.
In addition, the manufacturer might bring this to the Indian market as an introductory product until the development of the India-focused products in partnership with Hero.
The Zero FXE test mule was spotted in Bengaluru. It houses a 7.2kWh battery pack and a powerful electric motor which churns out 46hp and a whopping 106Nm of peak torque.
All this power is sent to the rear wheel via a belt drive system. This motorcycle weighs 135kg and the brand claims it can go up to 161kms on a single charge and achieve a top speed of 136kph.
The motorcycle uses Showa-sourced USD forks on the front and a mono-shock at the rear to handle the suspension duties.
There is no official confirmation about the India launch of the Zero FXE yet. The performance figures of the motorcycle are very good on paper. It is on sale in the US for USD 12,495 (roughly Rs 1,03,000). The Indian pricing may vary once this EV bike arrives.
