The Japanese automobile manufacturer Yamaha has launched the updated YZF-R15 bike in the Indonesian market. This is the company’s entry-level sports bike which boasts a long list of features, making it one of the top-selling Yamaha bikes.

Overview

The newly launched updated Yamaha YZF-R15 has received a cosmetic enhancement after receiving the all-new black paint colour scheme. But other colour options comprise grey/silver, grey/black, and blue.

It is also worth noting that the mechanical setup is retained despite the cosmetic updates.

As far as the features go, the Yamaha YZF-R15 is equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster that displays all the relevant information, such as onboard diagnostics, ride tracking, speed, rpm, and periodic service reminders, among others.

For convenience, this bike also supports connected bike technology (telematics) and through this feature, the user can access the bike’s live location, fuel level, battery level, speed, last parked location, service dues, etc. It also has LED lights at the front and rear.

On the safety front, the YZF-R15 has traction control, a slipper clutch, a quick shifter, and dual-channel ABS.

In terms of specifications, this Japanese bike continues to be powered by the same engine as before. That said, it has a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, supported by variable valve actuation technology (VVT), which produces 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of peak torque at 8500rpm. The power is drawn via a six-speed transmission.

The petrol is stored in an 11-litre fuel tank.

This Yamaha bike is architectured on the Deltabox frame and stands on an upside telescopic fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. It runs on a 17-inch alloy wheel.

In terms of pricing, the Indonesia-spec’s pricing is yet to be announced, but the India-spec is priced between Rs 1.83 lakh and Rs 1.98 lakh. In our country, the Yamaha R15 bike competes with the KTM RC 200.
