The Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai is thoroughly testing their updated SUV, the Alcazar facelift. The Alcazar is among the bestselling Hyundai cars in India.
The outgoing iteration of this feature-loaded SUV has a starting price of Rs 16.77 lakh and goes up to Rs 21.28 lakh. Both are ex-showroom figures, as of June 2024. But once the Hyundai Alcazar facelift is launched, it will command a slight premium over the current iteration.
So, let’s see what offerings are expected from the upcoming Hyundai SUV.
Design
By seeing the test mules of the SUV, the overall silhouette of the Alcazar remains unchanged. As the facelift moniker goes, the updated Alcazar has visual changes, such as redesigned headlamps, a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels, and redesigned tail lamps.
As for the front fascia, the upcoming iteration is expected to have a similar design headlight setup as the new Hyundai Creta facelift, alongside a tweaked grille. That said, rectangular split LED headlamps, tweaked LED DRLs, and a connecting LED light bar are expected.
The facelifted version will also have front and rear bumpers tweaked.
Features
The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar will have features borrowed from the current version. But the only added feature we are confident about is the ADAS suite, as seen on the Hyundai Creta. Besides that, you may find changes here and there.
Moreover, the Korean automobile manufacturer will retain the three-row layout- 6 and 7-seater versions.
This offering is expected to offer a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, tyre pressure monitoring system, and dual 10.25-inch screens (touchscreen infotainment and digital instrument cluster units).
Electrically adjustable seats, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, traction control, leatherette upholstery, retractable trays on front seatbacks, etc., are expected to be retained as seen on the current model.
Engine and Transmission
The current version of the Hyundai Alcazar is powered by the 1.5-litre turbocharged engines, available in both petrol and diesel versions. Both engines have four cylinders.
The turbo-petrol version is tuned to churn out 157.57bhp at 5500rpm and 253Nm of peak torque between 1500-3500rpm. In parallel, the turbocharged diesel engine is engineered to generate 113.98bhp at 4000rpm and 250Nm of peak torque between 1500-2750rpm.
This vehicle only has a front-wheel drive configuration.
The current transmission options include a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The same can be expected from the 2024 Alcazar.
Launch
The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift is expected to arrive on our shores in the fourth quarter of 2024. As per industry reports, this SUV’s launch was originally scheduled for mid-2024 but was postponed to clear the existing stock.
For your reference, the current Hyundai Alcazar’s price starts at Rs 16.77 lakh and goes up to Rs 21.28 lakh. Both are ex-showroom figures, as of June 2024.
Once launched, the Alcazar SUV will continue to rival the Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari. Similarly priced vehicles include the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota HyCross, Kia Carens, etc.
