Updated 2024 Tata Nexon EV, Gets Bigger Battery and Longer Range

Indian carmaker Tata Motors has launched the new Nexon EV with a bigger 45 kWh battery pack, making it more ideal than the earlier 40.5 kWh battery pack in the Nexon EV long-range variants. 

The Nexon EV is now classified into three trims, where the base Creative variant starts at Rs 13.99 lakh and the top-end Empowered variant is priced at Rs 16.99 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices. 

Like most Tata cars, the Nexon EV is now available in Red Dark edition trim which costs Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Nexon EV: What’s New?

Before the introduction of these new trims, the Nexon EV with a 40.5 kWh battery was available only from the second base, Fearless trim. Now the long-range car has become accessible to a wider range of customers because of the Rs 60,000 lower acquisition cost.

The bigger battery comes with the obvious benefit of a longer range. As per ARAI's claim, the Nexon EV can now go up to 489 km on a single charge which is 24km more than the 40.5 kWh battery model. 

Tata Motors claims that the updated 2024 Nexon EV can now go up to 350-370km on a full charge in real-life scenarios. 

The charging time of the car has also been reduced to 48 minutes which used to be 56 minutes for the smaller battery.

The BNCAP awarded the 40.5 kWh model 5 stars and the brand is confident that this slightly heavy 45 kWh model will also retain the same safety rating. 

The performance of the vehicle remains unchanged and it still churns out the same 145hp and 215Nm of torque. 

Other than this, the Tata Nexon EV now has a panoramic sunroof in higher trims and it also gets a frunk for additional storage. The Nexon also gets a Red Dark edition which is only available with the Empowered+ variant.

It gets features such as gloss black exterior paint with red accents and 16-inch gloss black alloy wheels. The theme continues inside as well with red upholstery, mostly all-black cabin with red contrast accents and Red Dark-themed user interface on the infotainment system.

Here is a variant-wise revised price list of the updated 45 kWh version of the 2024 Nexon EV. It is worth noting that the previous 30 kWh and 40.5 kWh battery packs will still be on sale, alongside the new trims.
