After the launch of the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike in India, Bajaj's closest rival, TVS is also planning to launch their first-ever CNG-powered two-wheeler, which will essentially be the world's first CNG scooter. The debutant will be called the TVS Jupiter 125 CNG.

What do we know so far about the TVS Jupiter 125 CNG?

According to some credible sources, the research and development of the TVS Motor Company’s CNG scooter are in the final stages. This project is codenamed U740 where the company has used a 125cc engine.

A representative from the TVS Motor Company stated, "All the technology options (CNG, EV, multi-fuels, etc.) are very exciting, and we are interested. But as outlined in the previous investor call, our plan this year is to launch another electric vehicle, an ICE vehicle, and an E3W vehicle. We are working towards that. We have already launched several variants of the TVS iQube this year. At the core of any choice that we make on the technology is whether it will make TVS owners happy and proud."

TVS is a major player in the Indian two-wheeler market with over 3.15 million units sold while holding over 18% of the market share. It is also one of the most innovative and creative two-wheeler makers with a diverse portfolio, as far as the two-wheelers are concerned.

The Chennai-based automobile manufacturer plans to launch this scooter by the end of 2024 or early 2025, and the company has a target of selling up to 1000 units each month.

The TVS CNG scooter may not be a direct rival to the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG, but it may be priced similarly to attract customers from the two-wheeler CNG market in India.
