Honda India is working on the next-generation Amaze, a sub-compact sedan. The current iteration is in the second generation, therefore, the next generation will be the third. This upcoming iteration was initially scheduled to launch in October but it was postponed to late 2024 or early 2025.

A Brief Overview

Several reports speculate that the third-generation Honda Amaze will be based on the re-engineered platform that underpins the Honda City sedan and Elevate SUV. The upcoming Amaze will continue to retain the sub-four-metre proportions, despite sharing the platform with its elder siblings. Hence, it will be shorter in, length, width, and wheelbase.

However, the ongoing second generation of the Amaze has a wheelbase of 2470mm, but the new generation is expected to have a slightly stretched wheelbase.

As far as the design language goes, the next generation is believed to have stylish design cues, which is speculated to be in blend with new-age Honda sedans sold overseas. Having said that, the current generation of the Honda Amaze (2nd gen) drew design inspiration from the Honda Accord.

In the interior design department, it is deemed that the new iteration will have a fresh design layout, which is likely to house a floating touchscreen infotainment unit, a fabric or optional leatherette upholstery, a semi-digital instrument cluster, power windows, etc. It may borrow some design elements from Honda cars in India while keeping costs under check.

In terms of specifications, the next generation is also likely to have a naturally aspirated petrol engine only. Sources suggest that it will continue to be powered by the current 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is tuned to produce 90bhp and 110Nm of peak torque.

Honda India may not offer diesel because of the decreased demand for diesel cars in India.

However, the 2024 Amaze is expected to retain the 5-speed manual and an optional CVT automatic unit.

Marketing

Once debuted in India in late 2024 or early 2025, the next-generation Honda Amaze will continue to take the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tigor, and Hyundai Aura, to name a few.
