Third-Gen Volkswagen Tiguan Crash Tested by Euro NCAP

The new-generation Volkswagen Tiguan recently underwent a Euro NCAP-conducted crash test. For those unaware, the Tiguan is running in its third generation, and it secured a five-star safety rating, which is commendable because the new crash test guidelines, enforced last year are very stringent.

It is worth noting that this iteration was equipped with accident-prevention technologies, including the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite. 

So, as for the Volkswagen Tiguan’s Euro NCAP crash test result, the new Tiguan secured 83% for adult occupant protection and 88% for child occupant protection. Further, this SUV was awarded 84%, regarding the safety of vulnerable road users. 

In addition to the result, Tiguan’s safety assist was also awarded 78%, which is also quite commendable.  

Speaking of safety assist, the third-generation Tiguan boasts an exit warning system that prevents the occupant from opening the door upon detecting an oncoming scooter, bicycle, or any other type of vehicle. To make the rear passenger room safer, the company has also given side airbags.

The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan (3rd-Gen) scored highest in adult- and child-occupant protections and the rest of the criteria were also met with good scores. 

Keeping the crash test results aside, we are hoping to see the new generation Volkswagen Tiguan with the ADAS suite arrive on our Indian shores. The current model, which is on sale in India is the second generation Tiguan, which is exclusive to the petrol engine.

However, Volkswagen India hasn’t hinted at the launch of the new generation Tiguan. But, once launched, it will be deemed to be one of the safest cars in our country.
