Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Expected Exclusive Features

The five-door iteration of the Mahindra Thar is the most-awaited homegrown SUV in India. On several occasions, the test mules of this vehicle have been spotted/spied. As per reliable sources, the elongated version of the Thar is expected to have a long list of offerings and may become the “first Thar” to have exclusive features.

I’m probably sure that that must be creating curiosity, so let’s delve into the offerings you can expect from the Mahindra Thar 5-door.

1) ADAS

The five-door Mahindra Thar is expected to be the first Thar to feature ADAS. It might get a level-2 ADAS feature. A car with this ADAS level has forward collision warning (FCW), auto high-beam assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control, to name a few. 

2) 360-Degree Camera

This feature makes driving and parking a vehicle even easier. An elongated vehicle, like the Mahindra Thar 5-door, should get a 360-degree camera, as it makes driving easy, especially in congested traffic situations. 

3) Harman Kardon Audio System

Yes, you read that right. The five-door iteration of the Mahindra Thar might be the first Thar to feature a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. If it comes, it might be exclusive to the top variants of the Mahindra Thar. 

4) Single-Pane Sunroof

As per the leaked images, the extended version of the Mahindra Thar will get an electric sunroof. It seemed like a single-pane sunroof. It will be the first Thar to feature this offering.

5) Ventilated Front Seats

For this feature also, the five-door version of the Thar will be the first-in-segment to get ventilated front seats. 

6) Digital Displays

The upcoming Mahindra car is reportedly to have a bigger 10.25-inch infotainment unit with a digital instrument cluster. The three-door Thar currently gets a 7-inch infotainment display.

7) Wireless Charger

This will increase convenience, as wireless chargers are one of the always-in-demand features. 

8) Rear AC Vents and Type-C Ports

Since it’s a five-door vehicle, the carmaker has taken care of the rear seat experience. It should get rear A/C vents and widely-offered charging ports, especially Type-C. 

9) Seven Airbags

Unlike the dual airbags in the three-door Mahindra Thar, the extended version will be equipped with more airbags, reportedly seven airbags. 

10) Disc Brakes 

For increased safety, and to distinguish it from the three-door Thar, the upcoming five-door Mahindra Thar might be equipped with disc brakes in all four corners.

11) LED Lights

This time, the Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to feature LED lights at the front and rear. In addition, the foglamps might also be LEDs. 

The Ending

These are a few reported features that the five-door version of the Mahindra Thar might offer. Considering the information on its confirmed- and potential offerings, this vehicle will command a premium over the three-door Mahindra Thar. The three-door version is priced between Rs 11.25 lakh and 17.60 lakh (average ex-showroom figures, as of April 2024).  

Once the Thar five-door is launched, it will directly rival the upcoming five-door Force Gurkha.
