Tata Motors has now officially confirmed the launch of their highly anticipated electric vehicle, the Sierra EV for the financial year (FY) 2026.

Tata Sierra EV Design Features and Details of Avinya

Tata Sierra EV made its first public appearance at the Auto Expo 2020 as Tata’s flagship EV concept. It was based on Tata Altroz’s ALFA platform, measuring 4150mm long, 1820mm wide, 1675mm tall and having a wheelbase of 2450mm. This concept had a distinct four-door design, however, the concept again made a public appearance at the Auto Expo 2023 with a conventional five-door design which is most likely what the production variant would look like.

Like the Punch EV and upcoming Harrier EV, the Sierra is also expected to utilize Tata’s Acti.ev architecture. In addition, the indigenous automobile manufacturer has also paid tribute to the original Tata Sierra from the 1990s by taking design cues from the old Sierra and incorporating them into the Sierra EV. Besides that, this homegrown electric SUV is also expected to get huge square wheel arches with aerodynamically enhanced alloy wheels for better efficiency.

Tata Motors' anticipated premium electric iteration, the Avinya EV, is also expected to arrive along with the Sierra EV. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, confirmed that Avinya will be a brand with a range of cars and SUVs. These vehicles will be based on Jaguar Land Rover’s modular Electric Modular Architecture, which will be re-engineered and localised to reduce costs.

Not much is known about the upcoming Avinya yet. However, we do know that it will be produced at a new under-development plant in Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs 9000 Crore. The plant will probably be set up in Ranipet (in Tamil Nadu) and may also be used to produce Jaguar Land Rover group's EVs.
