Tata Nexon EV & Punch EV Secured Five Stars at the BNCAP Crash Test

The electric versions of the Tata Nexon and Punch secured a five-star safety rating at the Bharat NCAP crash test. The Punch EV and Nexon EV have a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 14.49 lakh, respectively.

Tata Motors recently gave their electric compact SUVs for the Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) crash test. As Tata cars are known for their robust build quality, these two electric homegrown offerings have also secured an impressive safety rating. That said, both vehicles secured a perfect five-star at the crash test. 

As for the electric version of the Tata Nexon, this subcompact SUV secured 29.86 points out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.54 points out of 49 points in Child Occupant Protection (COP). The safety offerings of the Nexon EV comprise six airbags, hill-hold, all-wheel disc brakes, descent control, auto-dimming IRVM, 360-degree camera, ESC, and ABS with EBD. 

The Tata Punch EV, on the other hand, also achieved a five-star safety rating at the BNCAP crash test. It secured impressive figures in both adult and child occupant protections. Following this, this homegrown sub-compact electric SUV has scored 31.46 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection. 

The electric Punch model is also well-equipped with features. It has six airbags as standard, ABS, ESC, blind spot monitor, and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, to name a few. 

Tata Punch EV: Offerings

The Tata Punch EV is based on the new Acti.ev platform, plus this platform is expected to underpin several Tata EV cars for the next two years, including the Curvv and Sierra. 

Besides that, this homegrown electric vehicle has two battery pack options: a 25kWh with a medium range of 315km on a single charge and a 35kWh with a long range of 421km on a single charge. 

In terms of features, this vehicle has a single-pane sunroof, an illuminated Tata logo on the steering wheel, LED lights (front and rear), ventilated front seats, connected car technology, auto HVAC, a wireless charger, cruise control, and an air purifier. 

Tata Nexon EV: Offerings

The Tata Nexon EV also has two types of battery packs: a 40.5kWh with a long range of 465km on a single charge and a 30kWh battery with a medium range of 325km. 

Further, the 40.5kWh battery pack releases 127bhp and 215Nm of peak torque, while the medium-range battery pack produces 143bhp and 215Nm of torque.

As for the features, the electric Nexon is loaded with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a wireless phone charger, a JBL-sourced audio system, ventilated front seats, and voice commands, to name a few. It also has all-LED lighting at the front and rear, and it runs on aerodynamic alloy wheels. 

Pricing 

The Tata Punch EV has a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh for the base variant, Smart 25kWh, and it goes up to Rs 15.49 lakh for the top variant, Empowered+ S LR AC FC. 

In parallel, the Tata Nexon EV’s price starts at Rs 14.49 lakh for the base variant, Creative+ 30kWh, and goes up to Rs 19.49 lakh for the top variant, Empowered+ 40.5kWh Dark.
