In Tata’s current passenger vehicle line-up, there is a gap between the Nexon and Harrier, and Tata is well aware of this fact and they are going to fill that gap soon by putting the new Tata Curvv SUV. As per sources, it is expected to launch by mid-2024.

The Curvv has been making headlines ever since it was first shown in the Auto-Expo 2023 and we have seen multiple test mules on the road as well.

This iteration is expected to have Petrol, Diesel, Electric, and a rumoured CNG variant, which means there is going to be a "Curvv" for everyone.

It is expected that Tata will launch this Sports Coupe design SUV in the first half of this year and here is everything that you must know about this upcoming Tata car.

BUILD & DESIGN

Tata uses the tagline “Different By Design” for Curvv, which is very true because all its compact SUV rivals like Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, Elevate, etc are boxy in appearance, whereas Curvv looks unique with its Sports Coupe design.

Exterior

It is probably built on Nexon’s platform (X1 Platform), however, it is a little bigger in appearance than Nexon. The front grille, full bumper-connected LED DRLs, connected tail lamps, and headlights design will be very similar to ongoing Tata cars.

What’s not similar to any Tata car or any other car in this segment, is the overall look of the car, it’s going to be a “Sports Coupe” with a slopping roofline appearance, and that gives Curvv its unique identity.

The rear of the car may make you feel like it is a sedan, but, that’s how the sports coupes are designed, aerodynamic efficiency like a sedan but ground clearance and interior space like SUVs.

Interior

In the concept shown at Auto Expo 2023, there was a glass roof but I expect a full panoramic sunroof in the production model.

Inside the car, we’ll see a two-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo, and right behind the steering wheel, there will be a digital screen for the instrument cluster.

We might also get to see a big 12.5-inch centrally mounted infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and a JBL surround sound system.

THE EV AVATAR

Tata has said multiple times, that they’ll bring the Curvv EV before the ICE variants.

The Curvv EV is rumoured to have a 400-500kms range, a single motor set-up, and dual-motor setup variants might also be there.

We don’t have much information about the EV variants yet but we’ll have detailed coverage whenever we get any significant detail before the launch which is supposed to be in the first half of this year, so stay tuned to Hardwire for further updates.

THE ICE AVATAR

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

As most of the leaks and rumours suggest, Tata is going to offer three engine and two transmission options here:

A) 1.2Litre Turbo Petrol, Producing 130 HP & 200 Nm Torque

B) 1.5Litre Turbo Petrol, Producing 150 HP & 250 Nm Torque

C) 1.5Litre Turbo Diesel, Producing 115 HP & 250 Nm Torque

There are going to be two transmission options, one will be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCA(Dual Clutch Automatic) unit.

There will be numerous variants with different engine and transmission combinations from the above options.

SAFETY

As far as we know, this car is built on Nexon’s platform so just like the Nexon, we expect it to perform well in the safety tests, as well.

All the basic safety features will be there, such as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, TCS, and so on. Additionally, we might see ADAS on higher variants as well.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The Tata Curvv EV is supposed to launch in the first half of 2024, and EV variants of this car will be available at regular Tata dealerships and Tata EV showrooms. That said, the ICE-powered Curvv will be available at all the regular Tata dealerships. Additionally, as per sources, the ICE-powered Tata Curvv will be available from the second half of 2024.

Once this homegrown vehicle launches, it will fill the gap between the Tata Nexon and Tata Harrier. It will compete with the compact SUVs in the market, so expect the prices to be similar to its rivals.
