Tata Altroz EV is Coming in 2025

Tata Motors does not change its EV design much from its ICE versions and that’s why I expect the Altroz EV design to be more or less the same with a few distinctive elements.

Tata launched the Punch EV in January 2024 which is the first ever car to come with Tata’s brand new EV platform named Acti.ev(pronounced active). Now, the much-awaited Altroz EV is also expected to launch soon, which is based on the same platform as the Punch EV.

Build and Design

The Altroz EV made its first appearance at the Geneva Motor Show 2019 as a concept. At the Auto Expo 2020, Tata showed a production-ready model of the Altroz EV, but the launch was delayed because of some technical issues which are now resolved.

As we have seen on the Nexon, Punch, Tiago, and Tigor, the carmaker retains some design language of their EV and ICE versions and that’s why I expect the Altroz EV design to be more or less the same with a few distinctive design elements.

Performance

The Altroz EV will most likely use the same single motor front wheel drive setup as the Punch EV which produces 80.4 HP of power and 114 Nm of torque for medium-range variants. In parallel, the long-range models produce 120.6 HP of power and 190 Nm of torque. Similar figures can expected from the upcoming Altroz EV, if not the same.

Battery, Range & Charging

The Altroz EV is expected to get a battery capacity of 25-35 kWh as the Punch EV and the claimed range is also expected to be similar at around 350-450 km. However, the Altroz might offer a slightly longer range because of its better aerodynamic design than the Punch EV.

Punch EV has support for up to 50KW DC fast charging and up to 7.2KW AC home charging and the Altroz, too, will probably support the same charging speeds.

Pricing

Since the ICE version of the Tata Altroz is positioned above the Tata Punch, you can expect the same positioning as the electric version, thereby the price will also be relatively high.
