The Tata Ace Gold is a homegrown utility pickup truck, categorised as a small commercial vehicle (SCV). This is essentially a heavy-duty vehicle and is also popularly called the “chota haathi.”
The Ace Gold’s closest rivals are the Ashok Leyland Dost+, Maruti Suzuki Super Carry and Mahindra Jeeto.
Tata Ace Gold: Capacity and Dimensions
It is worth noting that the gross vehicle weight (GVW) of the Tata Ace Gold varies with the fuel type selected, and that can apply to any vehicle. This small commercial pickup truck can be had in petrol, diesel and CNG. The petrol version has an overall weight of 1615kg, while the diesel and CNG versions weigh 1685kg and 1630kg, respectively.
The petrol version of the Ace Gold offers a payload capacity of 735kg in the high deck, 775kg in the closed body, and 875kg in the cab chassis configuration. On the other hand, the Ace Gold CNG and CNG+ have a payload capacity of 660kg and 615kg, respectively. Lastly, the Ace Gold Diesel has a loading capacity of 750kg.
As for the dimensions of the Tata Ace Gold, its petrol and diesel iterations have a wheelbase of 2100mm, while the CNG and CNG+ variants have 2250mm. The latter versions have a long wheelbase, as a result, they can maintain stability during commercial activities.
For enhanced manoeuvrability, the Petrol and Diesel versions get a turning circle radius (TCR) of 4300mm, while the CNG version has a longer wheelbase of 4625mm.
Last but not least, the Tata Ace Gold maintains a ground clearance of 160mm even after two passengers sitting- driver and co-driver.
Tata Ace Gold: Powertrains
As mentioned above, this four-wheeler Tata Ace Gold has three powertrain options: petrol, diesel and CNG.
Tata Motors has powered the petrol version by giving a 694cc MPFI (multi-point fuel injection) 4-stroke water-cooled engine, which is tuned to produce 30bhp at 4000rpm and 55Nm of peak torque between 2500-3000rpm.
In parallel, the CNG and CNG+ are powered by a 694cc 2-cylinder Positive Ignition (PI) engine that generates 26bhp at 4000rpm and 51Nm of peak torque between 2000-2500rpm.
Lastly, the Tata Ace Gold diesel version has a 702cc 2-cylinder Compression Ignition (CI) unit, which delivers different outputs on different driving modes. The Tata Ace Gold Diesel has driving modes: City and Power. The City driving mode produces 17bhp and 40Nm of torque, while the Power mode increases the engine output to 22bhp and 55Nm of peak torque.
Apart from that, different variants of the Tata Ace Gold have different fuel tank capacities. The petrol version has a fuel-tank capacity of 26 litres, while the CNG and CNG+ have fuel tank capacities of 70 and 105 litres, respectively. However, the diesel version has a fuel tank capacity of only 30 litres.
In all variants of the Tata Ace Gold, the braking duties are taken care of by front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

In the features department, the Tata Ace Gold has adequate offerings in its segment. The offerings include a digital instrument cluster, a USB charging port, a glove box, and bottle and document holders. Additionally, this small commercial vehicle offers a gear shift indicator to achieve proper speed-gear ratios for improved fuel economy.
The Tata Ace Gold is also equipped with a manual steering system, which doesn’t have many complex parts, as a result, there are reduced maintenance requirements.
