Reports speculate that Royal Enfield is working on a 250cc motorcycle. This project is internally codenamed V. This motorcycle will, not only broaden the portfolio of the classic retro automaker but also make it accessible to a whole new set of buyers.
Once launched, it could be the cheapest Royal Enfield bike in India, as it is deemed to be positioned below the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Not only that, reports claim, that it could be the cheapest 250cc bike in our country.
Things We Know So Far About the Royal Enfield 250cc Bike
Royal Enfield plans to make its products accessible to the masses by making a foray into the 250cc two-wheeler market in India. The company is expected to use the downsized version of the 350cc engine.
As per reports, this project has finally been started. No other details are yet available about this project. As mentioned above. the upcoming Royal Enfield 250cc bike could be the company's most affordable and the cheapest 250cc bike in India.
Currently, the most affordable Royal Enfield motorcycle in the market is the Hunter 350 which is priced at Rs 1.49 lakh, ex-showroom. Comparing the pricing and specifications of the Hunter 350, we can expect this upcoming 250cc motorcycle to be positioned below the former, plus it could be priced somewhere between Rs 1.2 to 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom).
Many people may not know this, but, this won’t be Royal Enfield’s first 250cc motorcycle. The brand has had many other low-capacity motorcycles in the past. The Model A 225cc bike, Bullet 250, ‘65 Continental GT 250 and many other lower capacity motorcycles have been part of the Royal Enfield’s portfolio in the past.
There is no confirmation from the brand yet, but this 250cc Royal Enfield motorcycle is expected to arrive in 2026-27. It will lock horns with the Suzuki Gixxer 250, KTM 250 Duke, Bajaj Dominor 250, etc.
