Recently, Royal Enfield’s one of the highly anticipated bikes was spotted overseas - the Classic 650. And it was spotted fully undisguised ahead, which indicates an imminent launch. Reportedly, the test mule seems to be spotted in the UK, where the company operates its technology facility.
Design
The upcoming Royal Enfield 650 continues to carry the classic design language of other Royal Enfield bikes. That being said, this iteration houses a circular headlamp, a curvy fuel tank, a wide handlebar, a circular tail lamp, and retro-style front and rear fenders.
As you can see in the images, there are chrome inserts on some parts of the bike, plus the exhaust setup is also finished in chrome.
In addition to that, the Classic 650 is likely to have standard wire-spoke and optional alloy wheels, retaining the blend of retro-modern design language.
All-in-all, it seems that the company will continue to carry out Royal Enfield’s legacy by blending the vintage design with new-age performance.
Specifications
These spy shots hint that the Classic 650 will be supported by a tubular steel frame, which is known to offer good stability and comfort-oriented rideability.
This 650cc Royal Enfield bike is deemed to accommodate a 648-cc parallel-twin engine, which is also shared with Royal Enfield 650cc models - the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT.
This air/oil-cooled engine is tuned to churn out 47bhp at 7150rpm and 52Nm of peak torque at 5250rpm. And, this unit is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Like the available Royal Enfield 650cc bikes, the Classic 650 is also expected to deliver strong low-end performance and smooth gear shifts, enhancing the cruising experience.
Apart from that, the brake setup is likely to comprise a 320mm front disc brake and a 300mm rear disc brake. As for the suspension setup, this bike is expected to stand on a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a preload adjustable twin shocks at the rear.
For added safety, the Royal Enfield Classic 650 is likely to get dual-channel ABS technology.
Market Positioning
Given its looks and the ‘Classic’ nameplate, it is safe to assume that the Classic 650 will be the most affordable iteration in the RE 650 lineup. Subsequently, it is likely to have competitive pricing, thereby it might not have a Tripper navigation pod or USD forks.
Moreover, this anticipated entry-level RE 650 bike will broaden the audience due to its expected competitive pricing. The launch date remains to be seen but we expect this iteration to arrive later this year or early next year.
