The Japanese automaker Nissan has teased their X-Trail SUV before the India launch. It is a much-needed launch for the brand in the country since they only have Magnite on sale. Nissan India will bring the fourth-generation X-Trail into the country via the CBU route.

Nissan X-Trail: Expected Features and Pricing

The 4th-generation Nissan X-Trail model is already on sale in a few countries for quite a while now, plus the brand has been testing this SUV on Indian roads for quite some time.

However, after researching and testing the market, the brand is confident to launch the SUV in India after discontinuing the Kicks in April last year in 2023; therefore only one car was on sale, the Magnite.

The Nissan X-Trail is not a brand-new product for the Indian market, its first- and second-generation iterations were already on sale, but, the company discontinued them because of low demand.

The fourth generation X-Trail is built on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-C platform. It is offered in either a five-seater or a seven-seater configuration. The SUV is expected to arrive in the country with a 1.5-litre petrol burner, which generates 204hp and 305Nm of torque.

This engine will be coupled with a CVT unit, plus it remains to be seen if the SUV will have an AWD setup or an RWD setup because this iteration is available with various engine and transmission options, including a hybrid version, in the international markets.

Nissan India is already working on a product lineup which will arrive in the coming years, until then, the X-Trail is being brought into the country to maintain the brand’s market presence.

It is worth mentioning that the company had shown the X-Trail, alongside two other Nissan cars, the Juke and Qashqai at an event in 2022. There is no confirmation if the Qashqai or Juke will land on our shores.

Once launched, the Nissan X-Trail will lock horns with the Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Tucson, etc. Having said that, one can expect similar pricing but probably on a slightly higher side, as it will follow the CBU route.
