Last year, JSW Group India and SAIC Motor founded a joint venture. This joint venture is known as JSW MG Motor India and it will now focus on improving charging infrastructure, boosting production, and developing MG India’s sales and service network throughout the country.

Now the joint venture has showcased MG’s first-ever flagship electric sportscar in India, the Cyberster. This car is expected to launch globally later this year and we can expect the India launch to be after that.

Build and Design

The MG Cyberster is a convertible electric sports car. It is built on an all-new born-electric platform. The car gets sleek LED headlamps and LED DRLs at the front, the front bumper has air intakes to keep the battery and motor cool and the rear has arrow-shaped sharp tail lamps, with a connected LED lightbar and a split spoiler, coupled with the scissor doors on the side makes the Cyberster a fabulous-looking car. The MG Cyberster is 4533mm long, 1912mm wide, 1328mm tall and it has a wheelbase of 2689mm.

Interior and Features

The Cyberster has 3 screens wrapped behind the steering wheel making it appear like one giant touchscreen unit, and apart from this, in the centre, the car also has a vertically mounted touch screen with a few physical buttons for the convertible soft top controls. All the basic features like dual-zone climate control AC, ventilated seats, leather upholstery, Android Auto, and Apple Carplay are going to be available here.

Performance

The Cyberster has two variants, one with a single motor and the other with a dual motor setup. The basic single-motor variant produces 308hp and it features a 64kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 520km. The flagship dual motor all-wheel drive variant produces 544hp and 725Nm of peak torque. This dual motor variant has a claimed 0 to 100kph timing of just 3.2 seconds making it one the fastest cars in the market currently. It gets a bigger 77kWh battery and the brand claims that this one will go 580km on a full charge.

Pricing and Availability

There is no official confirmation on the exact launch date or pricing of the car, but it’ll most probably be launching in China and the European market later this year or early next year. Since this is going to be an entry-level affordable sportscar we can expect the pricing to be around 50,000 Pounds which roughly translates to around Rs 53 Lacs.
