MG Cloud EV is expected to launch in India in the coming months. By looking at the camouflaged test mule, it is safe to assume that it will be a crossover of a premium hatchback and an MPV, hence maybe known as a CUV (crossover utility vehicle).

Expected Design, Features, and Specifications

The MG Cloud EV is expected to land between the Comet and ZS EV in the Indian portfolio of MG Motors. The shape of the car resembles an MPV but it is confirmed that this vehicle will carry up to five passengers.

Other design elements include flush door handles, minimal design with plane body panels, full-width LED DRL at the front and connected tails at the rear. Additionally, the bumper-mounted headlamps are also expected to be present on the India-bound version.

As for dimensions, the MG Cloud EV has a length of 4295mm, a width of 1850mm, and a height of 1652mm. A spacious cabin is also expected, thanks to the crossover-like body shape.

The main highlight of the interior design is the large floating touchscreen infotainment screen, which is mounted centrally on the dashboard. The front row seats will have a feature called “sofa mode” which reclines the front seats completely; this feature will come in handy while charging the EV. The EV also offers a 360-degree camera and a level-2 ADAS suite in international markets.

MG offers the Cloud EV with two battery packs: a 37.9kWh with 360km of claimed driving range and a 50.6kWh with 460km of claimed driving range. The small battery pack, accompanied by a single motor, mounted on the front axle powers the front wheels by releasing 134bhp. In parallel, the bigger 50.6kWh battery pack, which also powers the MG ZS EV, releases 175hp and 280Nm of torque.

Availability

We can expect MG Motors in India to launch the MG Cloud EV later this year or early next year. Given its shape and size, the MG Cloud EV will rival the Mahindra XUV400, Tata Nexon EV, and Maruti Suzuki eVX, to name a few.
