Like almost every other carmaker, Mahindra is working on the electric version of the XUV 3XO, which was spotted on Indian roads for the first time.

The test mule, however, was heavily camouflaged from the front and rear, while revealing some details of the side profile. The launch date of the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV hasn’t been announced yet, but we can assume it will arrive this year.

A Brief Overview

The wrapped test mule of the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV showed some details that we can expect it to have. It should be safe to say that it will have nearly identical design elements from inside and outside as the non-EV version, except for a few EV-specific design inserts.

The 3XO EV is likely to get the same LED lights at the front and rear, EV-specific front and rear bumpers, EV-specific alloy wheels, and of course, an enclosed grille and EV badging.

The upholstery and other feature lists are expected to be carried over from the non-EV Mahindra XUV 3XO. It is deemed to include a fully digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment unit (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), ventilated front seats, an electric tailgate release, and a sunroof, to name a few.

On the safety front, it is deemed that this vehicle will be equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system, traction control, hill assist, hill descent control, electronic parking brake, drive modes, six airbags, ADAS, etc.

As far as the specifications go, the industry reports speculate that the XUV 3XO EV may receive a 35kWh battery pack, which is unlike the XUV400 EV’s 40kWh battery pack. But, as we write, there are no details on the electric motor and other mechanical offerings. However, the company is likely to offer both AC and DC chargers.

Marketing

As we know, the Mahindra XUV400 is an electric vehicle which measures beyond the sub-4m mark, whereas, the Mahindra 3XO is positioned in the sub-4m segment, which is why its electric version will also be in the same segment, thereby it will have aggressive pricing. Once launched, we expect it to rival the Tata Nexon EV.
