Mahindra’s and India’s one of the most anticipated SUVs of recent times is all set to break cover on August 15, 2024. Ahead of the official launch event, the brand has dropped a teaser, unveiling the “Thar Roxx” name and significant design details of the SUV.
Build and Design of Mahindra Thar Roxx
The teaser confirms the bold stance of the SUV's front profile and that the vehicle will feature all LED lights with C-shaped DRLs, dubbed the Thar 5 Door (official name, Roxx). The front grille design is also different from the current version of the 3-door Thar. The front dual-tone bumper of the SUV will house the fog lamps.
The vehicle also gets revised dual-tone alloy wheels, which look attractive and are significantly distinct from the three-door version. The taillamps of the SUV also remain LED, but they now get slightly different patterns compared to its standard counterpart. The vehicle continues to get the side footsteps on both sides for easy ingress and egress.
Interior & Features of Mahindra Thar Roxx
In terms of features, the SUV will be equipped with twin 10.25-inch displays, one for infotainment and another for instrumentation. It will probably also support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other than this, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, LED lighting, and ADAS are expected.
Performance of Mahindra Thar Roxx
The performance of the current 3-door Thar has always been brisk, and the brand is likely to use the same engines for this new Thar Roxx as well. That said, a 2.2-litre diesel, a 2.0-petrol and an entry-level 1.5-litre diesel engine are expected to be offered with a standard 4WD setup. It is deemed to available in both manual and automatic transmissions.
Launch Date and Expected Pricing of Mahindra Thar Roxx
As per the confirmation by the brand, the SUV will debut on the Indian Independence Day, which is August 15. The SUV should be positioned above the existing Thar 3-door, which starts at Rs 11.35 lakh (ex-showroom). So, we can expect the Thar Roxx to start somewhere from the Rs 15 lakh onwards, as far as the ex-showroom pricing is concerned.
The SUV will lock horns with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, Force Gurkha 5-door and some more similarly priced mass-market SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, etc.
