Those who want to buy the 2024-manufactured Mahindra Thar in May or after May will have to pay a premium because the prices are now hiked on rear-wheel drive versions, which are essentially entry-level variants.
As per Mahindra’s website, the entry-level variants of the Mahindra Thar have higher price tags, whereas the prices of the 4x4 versions remain the same.
Mahindra Thar: Price Hiked Variants
The variants of the RWD version have received a price hike. The entry-level variant of the RWD version is AX (O) Diesel MT RWD, which had an old price of Rs 11.25 lakh, and now has a price of Rs 11.35 lakh.
On the other hand, the LX Diesel MT RWD and LX Petrol AT RWD were priced at Rs 12.75 lakh and Rs 14 lakh, respectively. But now, the former is priced at Rs 12.85 lakh, while the latter is priced at Rs 14.10 lakh.
All are average ex-showroom prices.
Given the figures, these three variants have prices hiked by Rs 10,000, and no changes/additions have been made to those variants.
Mahindra Thar: Specifications
The Mahindra Thar’s specifications remain unchanged, despite the price hike. The AWD iteration gets the same engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel unit. The former has an output of 150bhp and 320Nm of peak torque, while the latter has an output of 130bhp and 300Nm of torque.
Both engines come with a standard six-speed manual and optional automatic transmissions.
In parallel, the RWD version also has two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The latter has an engine output of 118bhp of power and 300Nm of peak torque, while the former has the same output as the AWD version of the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol variant.
This variant is also available in a six-speed manual and optional automatic transmissions.
Mahindra Thar: Price
The RWD version of the Mahindra Thar has a starting price of Rs 11.35 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.10 lakh. On the other hand, the AWD version has a starting price of Rs 14.30 lakh and goes up to Rs 17.60 lakh.
