The Mahindra the Thar 5-door is expected to launch in mid-2024 and the internet is flooded with leaks and rumors about the car.
Mahindra has been spied testing the 5-door Thar in various locations across the country and a few people have managed to click photographs and record videos of the interior and exterior of the car and leak it on the internet.

Today, I’ll tell you some details of the upcoming Thar 5-door that we can expect as seen in images and videos on the internet.

Build and Design

In addition, there are speculations that the five-door iteration might be named- Thar Armada. Looking back, the Mahindra Armada was a 5-door SUV and predecessor of the Bolero in the 90s. Since the upcoming ‘Thar Armada’ is an extended version of the 3-door version, it might have the same platform as the latter.

Going by the leaked images and videos, we can see that this new 5-door Thar will get a redesigned front grille and bumpers to distinguish it from the 3-door version. The tail lights might also be slightly different.  At the rear, it will get the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. We will also see a new set of alloy wheels.

Features

Leaked images and videos also reveal that there will be a bigger infotainment unit, alongside a slightly revised dashboard design, a wide single-pane sunroof, and individual armrests for the driver and co-driver. The upcoming Thar will also be the first Thar to offer an engine start/stop button instead of the traditional key slot.

Engine and Transmission

An area where the Thar 5-door will get no changes is the engine and transmission options. Just like the Thar 3-door version, it will get the 2.2-liter mHawk Diesel and 2.0-liter mStallion Petrol engine mated to manual and automatic transmissions. Due to the increased dimensions of the 5-door Thar, power figures may vary a little. These same engines produce 150hp of power and 300Nm of torque in the petrol version, while the diesel unit produces 130hp of power and 300Nm of torque. Hence, the petrol unit is more powerful than the diesel engine.

Pricing

As for the Mahindra Thar 5-door, we are expecting to be priced from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. Actual price figures and the offerings will be revealed by Mahindra at the launch event that may take place in mid-August 2024. For further updates, do stay tuned to Hardwire.
