Like other automakers adopting sustainability; Lamborghini, an Italian automobile manufacturer is also shifting towards electrification. That said, they have launched the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of its SUV, the Lamborghini Urus SE. The India-bound Urus SE, which has followed the CBU route carries an ex-showroom price of Rs 4.57 crore.

Everything is redesigned cosmetically to make it distinctive from its non-hybrid version, the Urus S.

Lamborghini Urus SE: Overview

This performance-centric SUV with a plug-in-hybrid setup incorporates a tweaked radiator grille, redesigned bumpers (front and rear), Matrix LED headlights with a distinct light design, and a reprofiled tailgate, accompanied with Y-shaped mesh-designed sleek LED tail lights. Another noteworthy addition is the all-new Pirelli P Zero tyres that wrap the dual-tone alloy wheels (size ranges between 21 inches and 23 inches).

Moreover, the 2024 Urus SE also houses a tweaked diffuser and a new spoiler, which are claimed to increase the downforce by 35% at high speeds, unlike its standard counterpart. In addition to that, the revised air ducts and under-body air vents also enhance the aerodynamics of the SUV. Subsequently, the brake system now boasts an increased air flow by 30%, whereas, the engine and mechanical components have an extra 15% airflow.

Apart from the aerodynamics, the plug-in hybrid iteration of the 2024 Lamborghini Urus is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 (the same unit that powers the Urus Performante and the Urus S), coupled with an electric motor (automatic transmission integrated), alongside a 25.9kWh battery pack (placed beneath the cargo floor), producing a combined output of 789bhp at 6000rpm and 950Nm of peak torque at 1750-5850rpm.

The power is sent to all four wheels, simultaneously.

The petrol mill alone produces 612bhp and 800Nm of torque, while the electric motor alone churns out 189bhp and 483Nm of peak torque. It is worth mentioning that the electric motor is claimed to have a range of up to 60 kilometres.

The Lamborghini Urus SE is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, making it 0.1 seconds faster than the Urus S, but slightly slower than the Performante.

Its top speed is rated at 312 km/h.

Features and Marketing

The new Lamborghini Urus SE is well equipped, as far as the features are concerned. It incorporates a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Lamborghini’s latest software, upgraded aircon vents, and a new switchgear. Interestingly, the Urus SE has also received four new driving modes, including Full EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge, and these are in addition to the existing six driving modes.

Aside from that, the Urus SE also has an all-new longitudinal electric torque vectoring technology, coupled with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch, which delivers variable driving torque throughout between the front and rear axles. This system also works simultaneously with the rear axle’s new electronic limited-slip differential, thereby allowing it to offer an ‘on-demand oversteer’ to the Urus SE.

As for the price figure, the Lamborghini Urus SE is priced at Rs 4.57 crore in India. This is an ex-showroom price, as of August 2024.
