The Kia EV6 is Kia India’s first all-electric car. The EV6 was first introduced in India in September 2022. And, after two years, the company is now planning to get a refreshed version of this vehicle, thereby, patenting the design of the India-bound EV6. It is also worth mentioning that this facelifted model marked its global debut last year.

The updated Kia EV6 is expected to launch later this year in India.

A Brief Overview

Sticking to the ‘facelift’ moniker, the upcoming Kia EV6 will have updates concentrated on the face of the EV6. That said, Kia has provided more angular LED headlamps, paired with reprofiled LED daytime running lights (DRLs). These lights drop deeper into the front bumper.

In addition to that, the air vents on the front bumper are also revised, plus it appears a lot smoother and sleeker over the pre-facelift.

In parallel, the side profile is more or less the same as before, as the overall silhouette has been retained. But, one noticeable addition is the new set of alloy wheels, available in either 19- or 20-inches.

On the other hand, the rear end of the 2024 EV6 has received mild alterations that can be seen in LED tail lamps and the bumper.

Keeping the exterior aside, let’s now dive into the interior of this vehicle.

The facelifted Kia EV6 will have an updated curved panoramic screen - touchscreen infotainment unit and digital instrument cluster. This update also includes a redesigned two-spoke steering wheel that now boasts a fingerprint scanner that allows registered drivers to start the car without a key fob.

Other offerings comprise a digital rearview mirror, an enhanced heads-up display (HUD), and an AI-supported navigation system.

On the specifications front, the Kia EV6 facelift will get a larger battery pack of 84kWh, which is a substitute for the pre-facelift’s 77.4kWh battery pack.

The rear-wheel drive (RWD) version releases 229bhp and 350Nm of peak torque, while the all-wheel drive (AWD) version pumps out 325bhp and 605Nm of torque. The former version returns a range of 494 kilometres, while the latter returns 461 kilometres.

These are claimed ranges by Kia Motors, based on the South Korean test cycle.

Further, the new Kia EV6 can charge itself via a 350kW DC fast charger, and it can replenish the battery from 10-80% in 18 minutes.

Launch Timeline

There are no official announcements from Kia India regarding the launch of the updated Kia EV6, but industry reports suggest that it will arrive later this year. Upon its launch, this Kia EV will rival the BMW iX1, Mini Countryman Electric and Mercedes-Benz EQA. It will also rival its own sibling, the Hyundai IONIQ 5.
