Following the price hike of the Kia Seltos, the Korean carmaker has also hiked the prices of the Kia Carens and Kia Sonet in July 2024. These vehicles are among the bestselling Kia cars in their respective segment.
Only selected variants of the Kia Carens and Kia Sonet have received a price increment. So, below is the variant-wise revised price list of these two vehicles.
Kia Carens: Price Hike (July 2024)
The Carens is the most affordable three-row MUV in India plus it is known for offering various powertrains and features.
The lowest price hike received by the Kia Carens is seen on the mid variant, the Luxury Diesel, which stands at Rs 8000. The prices of some base variants have prices remain unchanged.
The top variant, the X-Line 6 STR AT, has received the highest increment, which stands at Rs 27,000.

Kia Sonet: Price Hike (July 2024)
This sub-compact (or sub-4m) SUV has also received a price hike on selected variants by up to Rs 27,000. It is worth noting that the base-spec HTE variants have prices unchanged. However, the top-most 1.5-litre diesel manual variant has received a price hike of Rs 27,000.

A) 1.2-Litre Naturally-Aspirated Petrol
This engine of the Kia Sonet produces 81PS of power and 115Nm of peak torque. It is exclusive to a six-speed manual transmission. The 1.2-litre Kia Sonet version has a claimed mileage of 18.83kmpl.

The price of the entry-level variant, the HTE, is unchanged at Rs 8 lakh. On the other hand, the HTK Plus and HTK(O) trims have the highest increment of Rs 12000.
B) 1.0-Litre Turbocharged Petrol
The Kia Sonet’s 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol is tuned to produce 120PS and 172Nm of peak torque. This engine can be had with either a six-speed iMT unit or a seven-speed DCT automatic unit.
The former version has a mileage of 18.7kmpl, while the latter has 19.2kmpl. Both are ARAI-claimed figures.

The price of the HTK variant, which is a base version has its price the same as before. The lowest increment is Rs 10,000, which is received by the HTX Plus variant, while the X-Line 7-speed DCT, has received the highest hike of Rs 17,000.
C) 1.5-Litre Turbocharged Diesel
The Kia Sonet’s 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine produces 116PS of peak power and 250Nm of peak torque. It is available with a six-speed manual, a six-speed iMT and a seven-speed DCT.
The manual version returns a mileage of 22.3kmpl, while the latter returns 18.6kmpl. Both are ARAI-rated figures.

As for the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel with a six-speed manual version, the mid-spec HTX variant has witnessed a high price increment of Rs 27,000. The HTK(O) variant has the lowest price hike of Rs 3,000.
The variants under the diesel-manual version, such as the HTE, HTE(O), HTK, and HTX Plus, haven’t received any price hikes.
However, the Kia Sonet’s price starts from Rs 7.99 lakh, which goes up to Rs 15.75 lakh. All are ex-showroom figures, as of July 2024.
Kia Sonet and Kia Carens: Rivals
As for the Kia Sonet, this sub-compact crossover SUV takes the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Renault Kiger, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Toyota Taisor, and Nissan Magnite, to name a few.
In parallel, similar MUVs to the Kia Carens include the Toyota Innova Crysta, Toyota HyCross, Maruti Suzuki XL6, Toyota Rumion, and Maruti Suzuki Invicto, to name a few.
