Kawasaki India is now gearing up to launch an adventure (ADV) bike in our Indian market, the Versys X-300. Several reports suggest that the Kawasaki Versys X-300 ADV will have its sales commenced in the coming weeks - likely to coincide with the Indian festive season in October-November.
Overview
This is reportedly a strategic launch timing, as the company plans to pull the customers away from the established players like the KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan.
In addition, the Japanese automobile company is also reportedly focusing on localising as many parts as possible. A similar approach was seen before the launch of the Kawasaki Ninja 300. However, if Kawasaki India manages to localise the majority of the parts, the company will be able to aggressively price the Versys X-300 ADV bike.
This ADV bike from the 300cc segment will be powered by a 296cc parallel-twin engine, which is also shared with the Ninja 300 bike. The engine is tuned to churn out 39bhp and 26.1Nm of peak torque. The power is generated via a six-speed gearbox.
Further, this Kawasaki 300cc ADV iteration is likely to stand on the conventional telescopic fork at the front and mono-shock suspension at the rear. The brake setup is deemed to consist of disc brakes at both ends. To add a layer of protection, the bike is deemed to have a dual-channel ABS.
Once this bike is launched in India, the Versys X-300 will be the third Kawasaki bike to be locally manufactured, after the W175 and Ninja 300.
In terms of figures, the price of the Kawasaki Versys X-300 is expected to start from Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
