Tata Motors’ Jaguar Land Rover division is all set to follow the (completely knocked down) CKD route for the Range Rover LWB and Range Rover Sport.

In India, the latter is available with a 3.0-litre petrol or diesel unit, carrying a price tag of Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom), offering a savings of up to Rs 29 lakh.

On the other hand, the flagship Range Rover is offered in two variants: the 3.0 Diesel LWB HSE and 3.0 Petrol LWB Autobiography. The former has a price tag of Rs 2.36 crore, while the latter has a price tag of Rs 2.60 crore. Both are average ex-showroom prices, as of May 2024, plus reductions of up to Rs 56 lakh.

Range Rover Cars

Interestingly, India is the first country where the JLR group assembles the aforementioned models.

The Managing Director of JLR India, Rajan Amba, stated, “This is a proud moment for all of us in India, as we become the first country to locally manufacture the iconic Range Rover. It is a testament to the quality standards we have successfully achieved in local manufacturing in India, that are at par with JLR standards globally. Manufacturing the Range Rover family locally will bring together the best of both worlds, as outstanding British design, technology and refinement meets the pride of owning a ‘Made in India’ luxury vehicle.”

Benefits for Indian Buyers

As mentioned earlier, the local production of these JLR cars has made the prices fall drastically. In addition, the waiting period for the booked cars will also decrease.

However, both petrol and diesel versions of the flagship Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will be locally assembled in our country.

The deliveries of the Range Rover will commence immediately, while the Range Rover Sport’s deliveries will commence from August onwards.

"Local manufacturing of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India is the next significant step towards the brand consolidating its position as the most desirable modern luxury SUV family in the country," explained Lennard Hoornik, Chief Commercial Officer at JLR.
