Stellantis-owned Jeep recently showed its first production all-electric Jeep car, the Wagoneer S. This electric vehicle SUV will be on sale in the United States as a 2024 model. And unlike other Wagoneers, it will come in a two-row layout.
Moreover, interested prospects will soon be able to see the production-spec of this American all-electric Jeep SUV, as the company has scheduled the global debut of this vehicle for May 30th, 2024.
But before the global debut, Jeep decided to drop a jaw-dropping two-minute teaser video of the Wagoneer S on YouTube. Check out the video below!
Specifications
From the video, some technical specifications are confirmed. As mentioned above, this American SUV will be powered by a battery and twin electric motors. The exact specifications of the battery pack remain to be seen.
But what we know is that the Wagoneer S will be based on the STLA-Large platform, and this platform is designed to accommodate battery packs ranging between 85kWh and 118kWh.
However, the video shows that the pre-production model will have an output of 600bhp and 837Nm of peak torque, making this all-electric SUV touch 100km/h from a standstill in just 3.4 seconds.
Apart from that, Jeep expects a range of around 483km for the Wagoneer S on a single charge. That’s more than what Jeep anticipated in 2022 during the showcase of the Wagonner S concept.
Underpinnings
As mentioned above, the Jeep Wagoneer S is based on Stellantis Group’s all-new STLA-Large platform, which is versatile and can underpin the BEV vehicles of different shapes and sizes, such as crossovers, sedans, and SUVs, while being able to support 4xe (all-terrain) capability.
Interestingly, this platform can also be used for making hybrid vehicles and has the ability to house 400V and 800V electric layouts, plus it can support front-, rear-, and four-wheel drive systems.
Offerings
As for the exterior of the Jeep Wagoneer S, this vehicle continues to have the boxy silhouette, while having an illuminated seven-slat grille in chrome, accompanied by a full-width LED light at the front and rear. Other notable design elements include trapezoidal wheel arches and LED foglamps on both ends.
On the inside, the electric Jeep Wagoneer incorporates four screens, each dedicated to the infotainment, driver’s display, HVAC panel, and passenger screen. Another notable highlight is the lack of physical buttons, which are present only on the leather-wrapped steering wheel for media control, navigation and cruise control.
There is also a rotary dial from which the driver can access the Selec-Terrain system which has five modes: Snow, Sand, Eco, Sport, and Auto. Other features include a 4xe terrain management system, ventilated seats (heating and cooling), ambient lighting, massaging seats, a panoramic sunroof (standard), and a 19-speaker McIntosh-sourced high-end audio system.
There is also a 360-degree camera, airbags, hill-hold control, traction control, and ADAS, to name a few. The ADAS features include lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist, and automatic emergency braking, to name a few.
Availability
Jeep will first launch the Wagoneer S in their homeland (US), which is expected to go on sale in 2024. However, its global debut will take place on May 30, 2024. As for the Indian market, we don’t know if Jeep India will bring this all-electric SUV to our shores.
