The American automobile manufacturer Jeep recently unveiled one of its bestselling compact SUVs, the Avenger, with an all-wheel drive and mild-hybrid technology. These two added features have raised the bar in its segment, therefore it is deemed as delighted news for Jeep owners and prospects.

As for India, it is to be seen if Jeep will introduce the Avenger compact SUV to our market. In fact, it would be surprising to know that the company doesn’t sell this vehicle in their homeland either! This vehicle only has a Euro-spec iteration which is exclusively sold in Europe.

Moving on, below are the noteworthy highlights of the Jeep Avenger 4xe.

Specifications

It is worth mentioning that the new Jeep Avenger 4xe neither has a strong hybrid setup nor a plug-in hybrid setup. But, other Jeep cars from the 4xe series are strong/plug-in hybrids.

That said, the Avenger 4xe rather has two electric motors combined, each delivering 28hp, complemented by a 48V mild-hybrid system.

This mild-hybrid setup is combined with Jeep’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which has a combined output of 134bhp. The new iteration is currently the most capable Jeep Avenger.

Routing power to all four wheels is via the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a “smart all-wheel-drive system,” providing a 50:50 split at low speeds. For reference, there are two more configurations of the Jeep Avenger: Petrol-FWD and Hybrid-FWD.

Exceeding 30km/h (19mph) will make the rear electric motors go on standby for better efficiency, but all motors will come to life when you touch 90km/h (56mph).

Further, the Avenger hybrid offers four terrain modes: Auto, Snow, Sand&Mud, and Sport. The sport mode makes this vehicle sprint from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) within 9.5 seconds.

Improved Areas

The company stated that Jeep engineers have also enhanced the Avenger’s chassis for better off-roading capabilities.

Thanks to the Multilink rear suspension, this vehicle is more capable than before and sits 10mm higher than the FWD versions. Yes, the all-wheel drive version of the Avenger 4xe has a raised suspension, as a result, it now has a ground clearance of 210mm.

Lastly, this Jeep compact SUV also has grippier tyres than the rest of the versions.

On the design front, the most notable addition is the revamped bumper, accompanied by cladding and high-mounted fog lamps. The Jeep Avenger also comes with roof rails and a rear tow hook, as standard. It also has an optional matte hood sticker.

Inside, the Avenger 4xe incorporates “twice-as-durable” and “completely washable” materials for the upholstery for a seamless off-road experience.

Safety

While keeping off-road experience in mind, the company also pays attention to safety. The Jeep Avenger 4xe is equipped with new-age safety technologies, including driver assistance systems, enhanced brakes, and stability control.

Availability

The mild-hybrid version of the Jeep Avenger AWD will be offered in two trims: Upland and Overland. Jeep hasn’t announced the variant-wise pricing, but it’s safe to assume that it will be the flagship version of the Avenger.

Lastly, this vehicle will be available to order in Europe from the fourth quarter of 2024.
